We have beene using this gadget since 2002. Its durable and has been working fine all this while. The instrument gives a very rough estimate and hence if you need a exact figure you may have to average out the values. Overall I have been recommending my family and friends this instrument.

I gave three stars for the affordability of this product and it works fine after 2 years. But it will not give you an accurate blood glucose reading. A few times I did the kit and a hospital blood test on the same time, same day, and I always have to ADD 10 to AccuCheck’s reading compared to my actual lab results. So that’s what I always do now, plus 10.

It should be noted that these test strips use a newer technology (measuring glucose levels in blood plasma rather than in whole blood.) This results in an 11% higher reading than the original test strips. Read the instruction sheet and/or speak with your doctor about interpreting the numbers.

I received the Accu-Check Active Test Strips by Roche. Good service. I had stopped my Accutane which can raise blood sugars and so I expected lower blood sugar reading. When my sugars were 100, I felt weak and sick on my stomach as though my sugar was lower than 100. I read the reviews and then the insert in the box and highlighted in yellow on the insert, they say, that the meter will read about 11% higher. The customer reviewers mentioned this and that is why I
looked at the insert and had an explanation for the discrepancies in my physical feelings and the meter results. I am very satisfied with this product which I use for weight control and to monitor sugars when on Accutane.
